MAWLAMYINE (MOULMEIN)

The Mon State capital is the fourth largest city in Myanmar after Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay and has long been as important port. It was captured by the British in 1826 during the First Angolo-Burmese War and served as their capital from 1827 to 1852. The Strand Road of Mawlamyine is a spot-on street to stroll where beautiful colonial buildings are located facing the Than-Lwin River, the longest river in Myanmar.
